Generally aim to put trellises on the north sides of beds to prevent blocking sunlight. However adding shade is sometimes beneficial in our hot climate. Hope this helps.

I’m in the process of starting my first raised bed garden in north central phoenix, and your resources have been so helpful. I’ve run into a bit of roadblock recently in deciding how to add additional beds (I currently have one 4×8 bed running North/South on the Eastern side of our home). I would love to add a Vego arched trellis between this bed and a second parallel bed to the West – but I’m concerned about how this may impact sun for plants in either bed. What is your advice in terms of orienting an arched trellis between raised beds?

Thank you so much!!
