Hi Jennifer,

The tank is hooked up directly to my sprinkler system, and I have a switch that will allow me to either run directly from the city, or from the tank.

There is an automatic switch that activates when the tank gets less than 200 gallons that allows city water to drain into the tank. However when it gets to that point I generally just switch to the city water to save wear and tear on the tank and pump equipment, then switch it back over to the tank once I fill it again.

I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the switch to city water–it sounds like he’s not running the city water into the tank and through the pump, but instead running the sprinklers directly off the city line (when he’s out of flood water). Why, then does the city line attach to the tank? Trying to understand it all so we can implement in our new yard. Thanks!
